Long time no talk Aballie! I'm sorry to tell you but you couldn't become a nurse that way. However, that would look good on a resume for a nursing job. One thing you didn't know about me is since 2005 I've been a quadriplegic paralyzed from the shoulders down, after being shot in the right cheek. I've had nursing since the accident, I get nursing 12 hours every night and have spent close to a year in Children's hospital and haven't met a nurse that didn't have to go to school for it. There are a lot of 2 year LPN (licensed practical nurse) programs all over the place though! It wouldn't do you any self harm to go do that! Be blessed!

Nursing is a regulated profession. This means you must meet certain educational standards in order to be able to apply for a nursing license.

In Canada the requirement is a university degree from a recognized nursing program. in order to become an RN. I understand that this is not the requirement in the USA but still you will need much more than a "job in a hospital" to become a nurse!

I know what you are saying, but i'm not sure they would take you on just like that.Maybe if you'd left school then it would be different,it depends if they need any volenteers.Years ago when i was 16 and left school i went to our local hospital with my cousin to ask for work.I think my parents phoned up for us first. We went to a certain department that they sent us to.When we spoke to a member of staff ,we were told that they had no vacancies, not even for volenteers at that moment, but to try again in a few months. We didn't though and found alternative work instead. So i'm saying you can always ask,but don't build your hopes up.There are jobs that you can train to do in hospitals but to be a nurse, you do need to go to college.

To be a nurse you need training. If the hospital can provide you with that appropriate training, than yes, that could be a good start.

Volunteering proves your committment and I recommend it.

Good luck.
